Alcohol is a beverage best enjoyed in small amounts in a casino, purely so your brain doesn’t go into a fuzz mid gamble- however, it is still a beverage that is enjoyed best over your average coke or orange juice. When hosting a casino themed party, the drinks have to match the casino theme to create a realistic atmosphere, so here’s a few ideas to get you started.
(Note: All these recipes make ONE of each drink. Simply multiply accordingly for the number of drinks that you need)
The Casino cocktail.
Now, there is actually a cocktail called the Casino, so to neglect to serve this at a casino themed party would be wrong. It’s very simple to make, too. All you have to do is take 1 part vodka, 1 part scotch whiskey and 3 dashes of cherry liqueur, add all of these into a mixing glass filled with ice cubes, stir and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass before finally enjoying.
Basil Lime Gimlet.
A popular drink ordered in casino’s that is incredibly easy to make yourself. You’ll need 1.5 oz of vodka, 0.5 oz of syrup, 0.5 oz of lime and a basil leaf. Put all of the ingredients together in a shaker glass with some ice cubes and shake really, really well. Then, strain into a rocks glass, stick a lime wedge on the side and enjoy!
Difficult to say, easy to make (And drink!). For this delicious beverage, you’ll need 1.5 oz of rum, 5 lime wedges, a teaspoon of sugar and 3oz of lime juice. Using a shaker, mix up the lime wedges with the sugar- make sure to do this well. When this is done, add the rum, lime juice and some ice cubes, then shake all the ingredients together well. Finally, strain the contents into a martini glass (pre chilled of course) and enjoy. For extra refreshment, you could even add a lime wedge on the side.
James Bond, a frequent visitor of casino’s, loved a good martini- so why not shake it up a bit and try your hand at a filthy one? You’ll need 0.25 oz of Stirring’s Dirty Martini for the base, 1.5 oz of vodka, 1 teaspoon of dried coriander spice and one gherkin stuffed olive. For preparation, you need to rub the coriander around the rim of the martini glass. Then, using a cocktail shaker, mix up the Dirty Martini and the vodka with lots of ice (the amount is a personal preference). Strain into the pre prepared martini glass and then add your stuffed olive. Voila, one filthy martini for you.
Named after a classy casino, this is one classy cocktail! You’ll need 0.5 oz of whiskey, 0.75 oz of Benedictine, 0.25 oz of a classic bitter and some ice. To make the drink, pour everything into a mixing glass, including the ice, stir and then strain into a cocktail glass.
Well, you couldn’t miss out the classic casino drink, courtesy of Mr Bond! Vodka Martini’s are some of the most popular cocktails and thankfully are really simple to mix up! You’ll need 0.5 oz of vermouth (white vermouth is the most popular for a classic martini such as this one), 2 oz of vodka and a slice of lemon. To make your martini, mix the vermouth and vodka up in a mixing glass with some ice, stir well (or shake if you like it Bond’s way) and then strain into your martini glass. Add your slice of lime as a garnish and then you can enjoy in true Bond style.
